What did you do this past week?

This past week, I met with my team on Friday to brainstorm about what we wanted our project to be about. We settled on some APIs that interested us, and we decided on the models that we wanted to use through a discussion in Discord. We made a super rough draft of the project proposal as well. On Friday, we also had a small Hackerrank exercise that we did in class, and besides that, I attended lectures and did the quizzes as usual. I find myself still adjusting to the format and time constraints of the quizzes.

What’s in your way?

My team and I struggled a little bit with what the exact definition of “model” was. We eventually figured out that a model must have attributes beneath it, and it must somehow be abstract enough to link to the other models. Besides that, my main struggle is that school and recruiting has been really stressful lately, and staying on top of everything has been a huge struggle. I definitely need to get a better handle on time management, because right now, I feel a little overwhelmed by all the work I have to finish.

What will you do next week?

Next week, my team and I will clean up our project proposal and submit it on either Monday or Tuesday. After that, we may start on a basic skeleton for our website, and prepare anything else that is due by the project deadline.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #5: Pair Programming?

I liked the paper a lot! This is a paper that I also read in Object Oriented Programming with Professor Downing, but it’s a good read so I don’t mind reading it multiple times. I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed pair programming, and with the right team, I think it makes for a really great end product.

What made you happy this week?

I was a little nervous this week about how well me and my team were going to be able to work together, but I was really encouraged by the insight, intelligence, and hard work of my team members. This encourages me to put in effort and try to contribute to the project as much as I can. I’m excited to see what we can accomplish.
