What did you do this past week?

This past week, I’ve been diving deep into Phase 2 with my team. I’ve been having tons of meetings with members from my group to pair program and get as much done as possible. Thus far, I’ve been working with Michael Kavas to implement the backend API. I also worked with him to complete unit tests for postman and the backend. I worked with Matthew Whorton to complete UI changes. Collette and I completed user stories and worked on the technical report. Finally, Nathan and I worked on other front end issues together like implementing Jest unit tests.

What’s in your way?

Phase 2 has definitely been very stressful to complete! It’s been a lot of joint effort from everyone on my team to pull all of this together, and looking back I’m glad that we were able to do so so successfully. That being said, I’m completely burnt out of coding and recruiting, so I’m going to have to go on a programming hiatus for a little.

What will you do next week?

Next week, I think I’ll have a chill week. I’m going to take a break from working so much and just enjoying my time here at school. I want to hang out with friends more because I haven’t made the time to do that yet, and I really want to. I’m not going to be doing much work for this class next week.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #8: Interface Segregation Principle?

I’ve been enjoying my review of object oriented principles in this class. It’s a good reminder of all the things I learned last year, and it’s helpful for interviews.

What was your experience of functions, closures, and decorators? (this question will vary, week to week)

I found this week to be much more confusing than the last. Closures and decorators were a lot to wrap my head around, and I don’t think I got it at first. The quiz that we had on Friday was really challenging for me, and that was because of the time crunch and because the material was difficult to understand.

What made you happy this week?

I was happy that my team was really able to come together and complete the project. I think our team works really well together and everybody pitched in, so the group project process was really fun.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Go outside and smell the roses!
