CS 373: Blog #11

What did you do this past week?

This past week, I attended class and did the exercise for the week. My team and I didn’t meet for anything except the meeting with the TA, and this is because we collectively decided to take a week off. We all were a little burnt out after phase 2, but we’re excited to jump back into the project this coming week. This break was much much needed, and I’m glad we took some time to spend time with our friends and families.

What’s in your way?

Nothing is in my way, currently. I’m at a point in my semester where my workload isn’t super over-bearing, and I can get things done.

What will you do next week?

Next week, my team and I will have to meet up to make up for a little lost time since we didn’t work this week. I don’t think this will be that big of deal or super stressful though, so I’m still excited about getting phase 3 done.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #11: Getters and Setters?

I thought it was really fascinating! I remember reading this paper last semester for object oriented programming, and I remember having to apply the principles I read about in a lab that we were assigned. This was a really awesome learning experience at the time, and it’s cool to look back at this paper having completed those labs and understand at an experiential level what the author is talking about.

What was your experience of relational algebra, select, and project? (this question will vary, week to week)

It was alright! It was cool to dive into maps and SQL in Python. SQL is one of those things that I’ve used but never really understood, so it was interesting to get some insight.

What made you happy this week?

Taking a break from SWE and spending time with friends and family was a blast.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My team of the week is take a break every now and then! Often times, stepping away from a problem and then coming back to it gives you new perspective.
